STORIES BY:

Nancy Hemmingdinger.jpeg

Nancy Hemmendinger is the director of school education for the Suffolk County Department of Health Services. As an early advocate(when it wasn't popular), she led the charge to change Suffolk County and New York State's Clean Indoor Air Laws. Her current passion is to change the toxic media culture about body image and body acceptance and to  increase awareness  about eating disorders.  She is a member of the National Eating Disorder Association's Parent, Family, and Friends Network Steering Committee and has presented about eating disorders and body image from the public health perspective on a national and local level. This is her first foray into the art of storytelling. She is nervous about telling her story, but Jude made her do it.
