This workshop is offered by Lifestage, Inc

Lifestage, Inc, SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department's Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0270. This workshop offers 4 CE hours.

The ability to communicate about our work has never been more essential and is especially challenging in a world with many competing demands for attention. The world of business recognizes the power of story to market products and persuade, and professionals in human services, health care and social change can use storytelling to influence shifts in consciousness, change behavior and promote our work. This workshop is an opportunity to develop the skills and creative confidence that produce an effective story that communicates and has maximum impact on listeners. We will explore the artistic process of crafting a story using experiential techniques and group conversations. We will discuss:

Understanding your audience and how to design stories that reach them;

Techniques for shaping true experiences into stories that deliver important information;

Techniques for strengthening creative confidence;

How the choice of details and structure of a narrative impact the listener;

The neuroscience research showing the impact of artistic stories and how to apply that information in getting our message out to peers, clients and the communities we serve.
